Privacy Policy

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how DetailRay ("DetailRay", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our application and related services. DetailRay is a business management platform for mobile detailers, and this policy covers both the detailers who use our platform and the customer data they manage within it.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: email address, login credentials (handled by Supabase Auth), and basic profile details including your business name.
  • Business data: business name, phone number, business email, settings, and your connected Stripe account details.
  • Customer data you enter: customer names, phone numbers, emails, addresses, vehicles, appointment details, job notes, invoices, and payment records.
  • Job photos: before and after photos you upload for job tickets, stored in Supabase Storage.
  • Location data: when you tap "Start drive," we capture your device's GPS coordinates at that moment only — we do not track your location continuously or in the background.
  • Mileage records: origin coordinates, destination address, calculated driving distance, date, and associated job ID.
  • Usage data: app interactions and basic diagnostics.
  • Payment data: billing status and subscription details. Payment card information is processed directly by Stripe and is never stored by DetailRay.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
  • Create and manage accounts and authentication sessions
  • Store and display your business and customer data as directed by you
  • Send SMS messages (reminders, review requests, payment links) to your customers on your behalf via Twilio
  • Calculate driving distances using the Google Routes API for mileage logging
  • Generate and store Stripe payment links for customer invoices
  • Process subscriptions and payments via Stripe
  • Improve performance, reliability, and user experience
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents

4. SMS Messaging

DetailRay sends SMS messages to your customers on your behalf using Twilio. As the business owner, you are responsible for obtaining appropriate consent from your customers before their phone number is used for SMS communications. Twilio's privacy policy applies to message delivery and can be found at twilio.com/en-us/legal/privacy.

5. Location Data & Mileage Tracking

The mileage tracking feature is entirely optional. When you tap "Start drive," your device requests your current GPS location. This single coordinate is:

  • Sent to the Google Routes API along with the job's destination address to calculate driving distance
  • Stored in your mileage log alongside the destination address, distance, and date
  • Used only for generating your business mileage records

We do not track your location continuously, share location data with third parties for advertising, or use location data for any purpose other than mileage calculation. Google's use of data submitted to the Routes API is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. You can delete any mileage entry at any time from the Mileage page.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:

  • Supabase: database, authentication, and file storage.
  • Stripe: payment processing and Stripe Connect for detailer payouts.
  • Twilio:
  • SMS delivery of reminders, review requests, and payment links.
  • Google: driving distance calculation via the Routes API.
  • Vercel: application hosting and deployment infrastructure.
  • Legal and safety: if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users.
  • Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

7. Your Customer Data (You Control It)

Any customer data you add to DetailRay is managed and owned by you. DetailRay processes this data only as directed by you to provide the Service. You are responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to collect and use that information.

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Mileage records, job photos, and customer data are retained until you delete them or close your account.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information, including row-level security policies on our database to ensure each detailer can only access their own data.

10. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and help operate the Service. Stripe and other third-party providers may also set cookies in accordance with their own policies.

11. International Users

DetailRay is currently intended for users in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information may be processed and stored in the United States.

12. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your personal information. You can update account information through the Settings page. To make a data request, contact us at the email below.

13. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date.
